Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered Review

Image
Insomniac’s PlayStation 4 mega-hit Spider-Man ranks among one of the best-selling titles of the eighth generation of consoles – and for good reason, too . With its emotionally-charged story and outstanding gameplay, which earned itself nearly universal praise from critics, the developers managed to tap into and expand on exactly what has made Peter Parker and his web-slinging alter ego so beloved by comic and movie fans for nearly six decades. Its new sequel, Spider-Man: Miles Morales , is a fun but unsurprising journey worth picking up if you just snagged a PlayStation 5 at launch and want a graphical showcase with flashy combat. But if you’re new to the series or simply want to relive the first story in Insomniac’s new universe, the $70 Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition includes Spider-Man Remastered, which as the title suggests, grants some snazzy upgrades to the phenomenal original game – as well as its three comparatively mediocre DLCs – for only twenty more bucks. It’...

Pikmin 3 Deluxe Review

Image
One of the many great things about being a Switch owner is getting to play all of the games that were previously stuck on the Wii U. Excellent titles such as Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze and Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE got a second life on the more popular console. It’s a formula that has worked for Nintendo, which probably explains the need for Pikmin 3 Deluxe . As a new entry in a fan-favorite franchise that really deserves another shot, it would be foolish not to port it over. Since it’s been some time since the series was active, let me give you a quick refresher on what it’s all about. The basic set-up — you play an intrepid explorer who crash-lands on planet PNF-404 while in search of resources. Here, you meet a very friendly (and peculiar) species known as Pikmin. These plant-based creatures come in a variety of colors, with each colored variant having its own unique traits. Using a finely-tuned real-time strategy control scheme, you command them to help you collect res...

PlayStation 5 Display Console Spotted Overheating In Best Buy

Image
With Sony busy making sure everything goes off without a hitch ahead of PlayStation 5 ‘s release next week, addressing bad PR for the powerful new console is a nightmare scenario it could be doing without. Sadly, even best-laid plans can (and often do) go awry, and though these unfortunate circumstances aren’t a direct result of Sony dropping the ball, certain images doing the rounds online right now threaten to undo what’s likely to be an otherwise successful product launch. While sales of both next-gen devices aren’t allowed to take place until street dates (November 10th for Xbox Series X|S & November 12th for PS5) arrive, various retailers around the US and elsewhere have had display units setup in-store in order to give customers a chance to try out new tech early. Twitter user Xzyliac, having recently stopped at their local Best Buy, discovered that a display PS5 had ceased functioning, replacing its usual output with a warning message. PlayStation 5 Display Console S...

Every Game Available On PlayStation Plus Collection At Launch

Important days lay ahead for Sony. As a returning participant in next-gen gaming with PlayStation 5 , the company, like Microsoft, is doing everything it can to not only keep hold of its loyal install base, but increase that millions-strong figure even further. It’s no secret, of course, that the former has been the runaway winner this gen with the PS4, thanks largely to one of the strongest first-party lineups of any console to date. Microsoft, on the other hand, has been forced to play catch-up from day one with the Xbox One brand, predominantly due to then-Xbox boss Don Mattrick mandating a strict set of deeply anti-consumerist restrictions for the hardware. There’s still a ways to go until the two are on an even keel once again, then, though under Mattrick’s replacement, Phil Spencer, Microsoft has pioneered a number of industry-leading initiatives, including Game Pass. Xbox Series X may be lacking a system seller ( Halo Infinite has been delayed until 2021 at the earliest), but...
